CTS Printex Public Health Assessment

Timeframe: 1990 to 1993

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency placed the former CTS Printex site, located in Santa Clara County, California, on the National Priorities List in February of 1990. CTS Printex manufactured circuit boards between 1970 and 1985, employing a process that utilized a number of heavy metals and volatile organic compounds. In response to community concerns about ground water contamination, the US EPA engaged IAI to meet with local environmental community groups and residents to develop a public health assessment. IAI documented community concerns, visited the site, and reviewed existing environmental, toxicological, and health data. Based on this analysis, IAI concluded that the former CTS Printex site is not a public health hazard.
