Community Engagement for California Breathing

Project Timeframe: 2007 to 2014

California Breathing is a program within the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) that addresses the health problems associated with asthma through a holistic public health perspective. IAI staff were wholly responsible for managing the ongoing public involvement of a multidisciplinary team of asthma leaders throughout the state, including individuals from local community organizations, county officials, and health professionals. California Breathing, along with other CDPH asthma programs, was awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2009 Environmental Leadership Award in Asthma Management.
