Asthma Research Summits

Project Timeframe: 2008, 2012

IAI hosted Asthma Research Summits in 2008 and 2012 in cooperation with the California Department of Public Health. The 2008 Summit provided a forum for healthcare providers, public health professionals, health educators, asthma advocates, and researchers to learn about the latest developments in asthma research regarding environmental exposures, genetics, nutrition, allergic inflammation, infection, and molecular shapers of response affecting asthma.

The 2012 Summit expanded to include translational research and implementation of evidence-based initiatives and policies related to clinical management, housing, community-level pollution control, and reduction of asthma triggers in homes, workplaces, and child care settings. The Summit also explored new research including the impact of stress and climate change on asthma and epigenetics.
