Del Amo Superfund Site Public Health Assessment

Timeframe: 1987 to 2004

From 1942 to 1972, the Del Amo facilities in Los Angeles County, California, was operated by several corporations including Shell Oil Company, Dow Chemical, and others. Groundwater contamination from the site mixed with other contamination from the nearby Montrose Superfund site. In collaboration with the California Department of Public Health, IAI conducted several health assessments and studies in the area. Between 1987 and 2004, IAI conducted studies on residential soil levels, the impact of contaminants in dust, soil, air, and tap water, and DDT and chicken eggs. IAI produced a preliminary public health assessment in 1994, which was updated and finalized in 2004.
