IAI staff played key roles in the establishment and ongoing support of electronic laboratory reporting of blood lead test results to the State of California. IAI staff were instrumental in the initial conversion from hard-copy to electronic reporting through conducting written and verbal outreach to laboratories regarding electronic reporting requirements, and providing technical support to laboratories developing electronic batch files. IAI staff continued to provide support to maintain laboratory compliance with reporting requirements, insuring that the State of California receives complete and timely blood lead test data. The activities include: outreach, training, and support to laboratory staff new to electronic reporting; monitoring laboratory reporting for compliance with reporting requirements; developed and implemented a method for analyzing laboratory reported data to evaluate compliance with reporting requirements; and developed and implemented templates for providing verbal and written feedback to laboratories concerning their compliance with reporting requirements.
