Advanced Micro Devices Inc. Public Health Assessment

Timeframe: 1991 to 1993

The Advanced Micro Devices Inc. was added to the National Priorities List in 1982. In 1991, the US EPA solicited IAI to conduct a public health assessment regarding possible groundwater contamination from leaking storage tanks on the facility to neighboring homes. IAI staff surveyed the site and reviewed health outcome data from the California Tumor Registry, the California Birth Defects Monitoring Program, and water quality data from the Regional Water Quality Control Board. We determined that while significant groundwater contamination had occurred, exposures were not at a level of public health concern.
