Social Environmental Research
Understanding and addressing challenges at the human-environmental interface.
Passage of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) established, for the first time, national goals to protect the environment and required federal agencies to systematically evaluate the environmental impacts of proposed projects. This Act was a powerful precedent that paved the way for a series of federal and state policies which recognize the central place of humans in the terrestrial and marine environment. IAI was one of the first private sector firms to provide dedicated social science research services to agencies and institutions acting in relation to such policies.
Over time, IAI has expanded its expertise on the assessment of public policy changes in a range of human-environmental contexts. Our experienced staff conduct a variety of informational and analytical activities to meet the needs of federal, state, and local government agencies across the nation.
